"I went to Japan and had the great pleasure of being thrown by two members of the Japanese ’76 Olympic Team. Both went on to win gold medals in Montreal. In June of 1976 at the Kodokan, I had the pleasure of being choked unconscious by Wilhem Ruska, winner of two gold medals in the ’72 Olympics. In 2003, I returned to the Kodokan in Japan and was lucky enough to win both gold and bronze medals in the Masters Championship.

Judo is my greatest sports passion, and I am dedicated to having Juniors, Seniors and particularly Masters rekindle their love and passion for the sport at Atlanta Judo Midtown. Masters, whether they are retired Olympic competitors, World competitors, or dojo enthusiasts, are invited to come to our dojo for personalized light, medium or hard workouts.

Masters players or competitors, as well as others who have taught this great sport, are encouraged to become guest instructors at Atlanta Judo Midtown. Every nation, country and person has added to judo, and all nationalities (Japanese, Russian, Polish, Korean, and American, among others) have helped mold, change and shape judo into the great sport that it is.

The world should not forget the players that were once Seniors and Elite just because they are now Masters. Atlanta Judo Midtown offers Masters the opportunity to teach, or to train for local, national or World competitions. No one is too old, out of shape, or physically challenged to participate in our program.

Atlanta Judo Midtown is also committed to working with our young and upcoming judo players – those with a passion for the sport – some of whom will go on to become Olympians and World players. We provide an opportunity to learn from a variety of Master players and coaches, passing along the great judo spirit."
